Fewer business trips to Corona?

Companies are planning fewer business trips after coronavirus. 57 % of German companies believe it is likely that they will permanently restrict their business travel as a result of the coronavirus crisis. This is according to the ifo Institute's business survey.

Industry expects 64 % fewer business trips, followed by service providers with 60 %. "The consequences of the Corona crisis will accompany some sectors for a very long time to come, such as airlines, railways, hotels and restaurants," explains ifo researcher Stefan Sauer. Less affected are retail with 39 % and construction with 29 %.

Who reduces business trips the most?

In industry, the pharmaceutical sector with 80 %, computer manufacturers with 77 %, glass and ceramics manufacturers with 72 %, chemicals with 71 % and beverage manufacturers with 71 % want to travel particularly little in the future. In addition, IT service providers and management consultants in particular want to travel less, with 80 % each, as do research and development companies with 74 % and advertising and market research companies with 72 %. In the retail sector, wholesale is particularly affected, with 46 % of companies wanting to take fewer business trips. In retail, the figure is 31 %.
