Study job adverts? No way. IT talents increasingly want to be contacted directly by employers. The small catch is that each enquiry has to be individually tailored to the candidate.

IT talents who are about to graduate approach their job search with confidence, according to a recent study by get in it and the HTWK Leipzig. More than 1,000 German career starters and young professionals were asked how they felt about job hunting and starting a career. Findings that are certainly also interesting for the Austrian labour market:

Active contact very welcome

They are in demand on the labour market and they know it: the majority of the IT talents surveyed - recent graduates and young professionals alike - would like to work in the IT sector. be contacted directly with job offers. But a call from the HR department is not enough.

  • Please do not call! Employees in IT prefer the Contact by e-mail or message via social mediaafter employers become aware of them. If they want to contact an employer themselves, they also choose email as a means of communication.
  • IT talents have a clear idea of who they would like to be contacted by. There is a wide gap between desire and reality. Half of those surveyed have already been contacted by a headhunter, 65 per cent by a company's HR department. However, if you want to stand out from the crowd of contact requests, you have to approach things differently: 62 per cent of young IT talents would like to speak to someone in the field immediately and be contacted by a headhunter. Employees from the IT department are contacted. For 35 per cent, an enquiry from the HR department is completely okay.
  • What makes a good approach? For both latent and active job seekers, an approach must be respond to their specific situation. "The enquiry must match the information in my CV / profile" - this is primarily the wish of those who are not actively looking for a job but are present on job portals.
  • Good professional development opportunities are particularly important to IT talent when choosing an employer. These Perspectives should therefore already be communicated in the first speech.
  • Around half of active and passive job seekers want a job with an employer whose Values suit them.
